  1. Philipp

    Modern French

A one-Michelin-star restaurant tucked inside a Renaissance palace in a quiet winegrowing village, which sets the tone before you've even sat down. The cooking is modern French with Mediterranean and Asian detours, served as a four- or six-course set menu. Heike Philipp runs the wine side with the kind of ease that makes you stop pretending you know what you want and just ask her. Rooms are available if the drive home feels ambitious.

    One honor, in evidence:

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. It runs on the scored places nearby: more good stuff within reach, higher score. If it looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
