Down an alley and up a stairs in central Nottingham, Piccalilli is a small-plates spot tucked inside a period building with exposed brick, heavy timbers, and dried flowers overhead. The kind of room that makes you feel you've found something. Three or four plates per person is the move, and the cooking keeps flavours familiar enough to trust while doing something considered with them. The wine list is short and fairly priced.
