The mood is quiet Showa-era Pontocho, before the neighborhood got fashionable, with simmered side dishes, grilled seafood, and seasonal stews that have no interest in impressing anyone. The sort of small, warm restaurant where the food tastes like someone's grandmother invented it, because essentially she did.
