The former Old War Office, where Churchill paced and Ian Fleming quietly took notes for a certain fictional spy, is now a Raffles hotel. The 120 suites carry names like Churchill and Granville, the corridors run two and a half miles, and a hidden bar in the old MI6 interrogation rooms bans photography. Nine restaurants, a Guerlain spa, and a Forbes Five Star plus a spot on the World's 50 Best Hotels round out a place that takes its own mythology rather seriously.
