The building used to be the town hall, which gives this cosy modern restaurant in a small Harz village an unlikely civic grandeur. The kitchen does creative regional cooking with a playful streak, naming dishes things like "Firestarter" and "Whispers" while backing the flair with careful technique. A vegetarian set menu sits alongside the à la carte, and in summer the lime-shaded terrace makes the whole thing feel almost unfairly pleasant.
