    Perched on the southern tip of El Gezirah island, this Sofitel brings its signature high-gloss Parisian polish to a city that has its own strong ideas about grandeur. The Nile views are essentially inescapable, which is less a complaint than a design philosophy. Ten restaurants and bars, a spa that feels like an oasis inside an oasis, and a heated riverside pool keep guests from wandering too far into the Cairo noise.
