Every room in this 52-story Sofitel starts at the 27th floor, so even the least impressive view involves most of Kunming. The interiors draw on Dai peacock motifs, curved surfaces, quilted leather in the suites, and black-veined white marble, which keeps things from feeling like any other international business hotel. Dianchi Lake reads clearly from the higher lake-facing rooms. Three restaurants occupy the upper floors, including a 49th-floor buffet with 360-degree city views.
