The ornate historicist facade on Montevideo's coastal Rambla has been many things, and its current incarnation as a Sofitel is among the grander ones. It's a full luxury hotel with the SoSpa, two pools, a sprawling restaurant, and enough meeting rooms to host a small country's parliament. The beach is just across the promenade, which helps justify lingering.
