Solitaire Lodge

Lake Tarawera sits below the windows on three sides, with the Tarawera volcano filling the horizon beyond it. Solitaire is a small luxury lodge perched on a peninsula outside Rotorua, where the suites are sedate in decor but seriously appointed, freestanding baths angled toward the view. Dinner and breakfast are included, and the kitchen leans on local seafood and herbs from the lodge's own garden. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key.
