Tafoni Houses Cave Hotel, Cappadocia

Tafoni means the bird nests that crown Cappadocia's volcanic rock spires, which tells you both the inspiration and the ambition of this cave hotel in the village of Ortahisar. Suites are carved into the rock and original stone dwellings, each named for a different nest and none quite matching another: iron window grates uncovered during excavation, fireplaces, blue painted doors in some, marble Jacuzzis and custom chandeliers in others.
