A blocky 18-story tower perched on the Bandra headland, this Taj hotel trades the old-world grandeur of its downtown sibling for something more contemporary, with sea views that do a lot of the heavy lifting. Nearly 500 rooms, all fitted out in the luxurious-but-modern register the Taj does reliably well. Its real argument is geography: a quiet remove from central Mumbai, with Bandra-Kurla and both airports within easy reach.
