Each suite comes with its own private open-air hot spring bath, which tells you what kind of place this is before you've even unpacked your yukata. Takefue is a traditional ryokan-style resort in Kumamoto's hot spring country, built around dark wood, stone, tatami, and paper screens doing exactly what they've always done. The geothermal activity here is the whole point, and the indoor-outdoor layout makes it hard to tell where the suite ends and the mountain begins.
