The August House

The floorboards are milled from Nova Scotian lumber, which tells you where the owners' loyalties lie. This boutique inn occupies a handsome Italianate mansion that survived a fire in the 1890s, and its restoration was quietly shaped by a trip to Italy and an interest in slow-living hospitality. Rooms are simply but warmly decorated, breakfast is made in-house, and your hosts apparently have strong opinions about where to eat locally.
