A low-beamed country pub in a tiny Berkshire village, The Crown is the project of Dominic Chapman, who built his reputation at the Royal Oak in Paley Street and has done time with Heston Blumenthal. The menu runs seasonal British with occasional Continental drift, and the cask ales are treated as seriously as the wine list. It sits in the Michelin Guide and ranked 22nd on the Top 50 Gastropubs list, which does the talking for the kitchen.
