    Croquet lawns and rose gardens on eleven eucalyptus-shaded hilltop acres: the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is a quietly grand old resort in one of Southern California's wealthiest zip codes, which gives you a rough sense of the tariff. The rooms have been updated over the years without scrubbing out the chandeliers-and-white-gloves atmosphere that made the place what it is. Selected by the Michelin Guide.
