A half-hour speedboat ride south of Phuket lands you at Ko Racha Yai, where seventy white modernist villas sit on a hillside above Batok Bay. The Racha, a one-key Michelin resort, skips the jungle kitsch entirely: polished surfaces, crisp contemporary furnishings, private terraces, and open-air showers. Higher villas get plunge pools and panoramic views. A spa, a dive center, and Thai and Italian restaurants mean there's no reason to leave, which is rather the whole point.
