The back of this canal pub looks exactly like the dodgy 1970s estate boozer it once was, which makes rounding the corner onto the Grand Union Canal towpath a genuine surprise. A 120-foot deck faces south over the water, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors open the whole thing up. Inside runs to bare wood and white paint, more museum café than gastropub, but on a sunny afternoon nobody is sitting inside anyway.
