    Thirty minutes inland from San Diego, this casino resort sits above a 1,600-acre reservation belonging to the Viejas Band of the Kumeyaay Indians, with rolling hills on all sides and fire pits and waterfalls worked into the design as more than decoration. The rooms are contemporary and the staff runs warm. Beyond the gaming floor, there's a pool, a range of restaurants, and live entertainment most nights for anyone who needs a reason to stay put.
