Zööba
Egyptian
The turquoise door on 26 July Street is hard to miss, which is rather the point. Zööba is a casual Egyptian street food spot that takes koshari and taameya seriously without taking itself seriously, serving the rice-and-lentil staples and fava-bean fritters you'd find from a Cairo roadside vendor, just with more deliberate color and graphic design around you. Prices stay street-food honest. It landed on MENA's 50 Best Restaurants list, and now has outposts as far as New York.

Koshari
“Zooba's take on the country's national dish, koshari, brings the blend of rice and short pasta simmered with brown lentils in a spiced tomato sauce, topped with dukkah and fried onions, to new dimensions.”

Tagines
“Zooba offers everything from classic koshari, a dish of pasta, lentils and rice, to tagines, but the stars of the menu are undoubtedly the ta’ameya (falafel).”
