The Best Places to Drink in London, by the Record

  1. Rank 515. Tryst (Beneath Trèsind)

    Indian-inspired Cocktail Bar

  2. Rank 515. TT Liquor

    Cocktail Bar

A three-floor East London cocktail bar with a liquor store stocking over a thousand bottles, many of them rare, which already tells you something about the clientele. The cellar bar is the heart of it, candlelit and genuinely subterranean, while upstairs fills with masterclasses and tasting sessions most weekends. It sits on Kingsland Road, where the bar scene runs deep, and holds its own among stiff competition.

  3. The menu arrives as a passport, which tells you more or less everything about this Kingsland Road bar. Three Italian founders turned a loaded piece of American slang into a name for the place they built after moving to London, and the concept holds together better than it has any right to. Expect an Italian-leaning wine list, draught beer, and food to go with it, all in a Shoreditch room that takes its own backstory seriously without losing the plot.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. Most of it is the record: the scored places within reach, weighed by distance, so more good stuff nearby means a higher score. The rest is how life is in that country and what it's like right there: how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are, the air, and the weather. If it looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
