Vallejo won the James Beard Award for Best Chef: South, and the menu earns it quietly, with vegetable-forward dishes and seafood that trust local ingredients to do the talking. The cocktail list and wine selection are considered enough to order with intention.

    Brass sconces, emerald armchairs, and a terrazzo counter that looks like a terrazzo counter should look if terrazzo counters had ambition. Identidad is a cocktail bar built around Puerto Rican ingredients sourced from island producers, and the menu rotates often enough that regulars have no excuse to order the same thing twice. It took a 2025 James Beard Award for Best New Bar, which tells you more than the decor already does.
