Robert Burns used to drink here, which gives the snug's 300-whisky shelf a certain literary authority. The restaurant sits in a wood-panelled room named for the pub's founding year, complete with a Tam o'Shanter mural on the wall, and serves creative modern Scottish cooking that leans colorful and inventive. It's a proper pub dining room: atmospheric without trying too hard, and old enough that the history does most of the decorating.
