A Baroque palace from the late 17th century sitting just outside the old town of Celle, which is already the kind of place tourists photograph from every angle. The Althoff Hotel Fürstenhof Celle splits its rooms between the original palace and a newer wing, and both feel more like a light, calm country house than a hushed historic monument. The spa, bar, and an unexpectedly convincing Italian restaurant round things out nicely.
