Nine rooms in the Nara countryside, with a French kitchen that treats local ingredients as the actual point rather than the local color. The chef applies classical technique to Yamato produce chosen as much for its wellness properties as its flavor, which is either very Japanese or very ahead of itself, possibly both. Rooms lean European in feel, breakfast is for guests only, and Osaka is close enough that you don't have to explain the detour.
