Halfway between Geneva and Annecy on the slopes of Mont Salève, this early-20th-century château was commissioned by an American aristocrat who apparently wanted something unpretentious. The luxury hotel now fills that castle shell with two distinct moods: rooms in the main building run to French windows and velvet headboards, while suites in the newer wing go monochromatic with wood-burning fireplaces.
