Hostellerie De Biek
Brabançon Belgian
Timber rafters, bare brick, and windows big enough to make the Flemish village feel like part of the dining room, which is exactly the point. This family-run country restaurant occupies a former brewery in a quietly beautiful village outside Aalst, and the menu leans into Belgian classics before giving them a playful nudge, mussels in nduja and red curry among them. Guestrooms are available if the drive home feels like an overrated idea.

Brabançon-style pheasant
“Brabançon-style pheasant or bouchot mussels served in a spicy nduja and red curry sauce: the chef adds a kick to Belgian classics thanks to playful, creative inventions.”
