    A brick in the spa wall still carries a woman's footprint from when it was laid centuries ago, which sets the tone for this waterfront hotel in Gamla Stan. Rooms vary between vaulted medieval ceilings and wide views over the water to the old sailing ship Chapman. The Tjärn spa is built into Stockholm's original defensive wall. The Royal Palace and the old town's narrow lanes are steps away.
