    A colonial building in Mérida's historic center converted into a 17-room boutique hotel, with a rooftop pool that's yours alone until sunset, when the public arrives for DJ sets and tropical drinks. Rooms feel like a well-traveled friend's guest room: wicker headboards, antique writing desks, vintage globes, local ceramics. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key. Cancún gets the crowds; this is the quieter argument for the state capital.
