House of Architects

Peter Zumthor, Tadao Ando, Kengo Kuma, and Thom Mayne each designed a set of rooms here, which is either the premise of an architecture joke or proof that Vals is not entirely of this world. This 73-room hotel sits alongside the grander 7132 next door, offering a slightly more grounded way into the same thermal baths Zumthor made famous. Kuma and Ando's rooms lean into oak and Japanese joinery; Zumthor and Mayne's go darker, quartzite and shadow.
