    A bright yellow beacon in the Melrose District that draws weekend breakfast crowds the way a neon sign draws moths, Joe's Diner packs people into booths and around communal tables for biscuits and gravy and towering burritos. The buttermilk pancakes are legitimately fluffy, the coffee is black and hot, and the whole operation runs on the principle that breakfast is serious business.
