The terrace alone, shaded by old trees above the Rhine, explains why this bistro fills up on warm evenings. It's the casual room inside the Kronenschlösschen hotel, a bit less ceremony than the fine dining upstairs, with a seasonal menu that runs from sautéed lamb with wild garlic spaetzle to whole lobster served in two courses for two. A four- or five-course surprise menu gives the kitchen room to move, and the Rheingau wine list is quietly serious.
