A centuries-old lime tree shades the terrace at this family-run country inn outside Ravensburg, which is itself a nice summary of the ethos: rooted, unhurried, a little unexpected. The kitchen leans on Allgäu produce but pulls in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern touches, so the menu reads broader than the pastoral setting suggests. Cash only, which feels appropriately uncompromising for somewhere that also makes its own spaetzle.
