Pousada Convento de Belmonte

A converted convent on pine-forested slopes above Belmonte, where the former chapel is now a lounge and the sacristy pours drinks as a bar. The 24 rooms are named after friars and each has a private balcony facing Serra da Estrela. The restaurant leans into the cooking traditions of the Beiras. History hangs in the stone walls here without anyone having to point it out.
