The château across the lawn is Chambord, the one Disney used as inspiration for Beauty and the Beast, then had to dial back because it was too much even for a cartoon. The Relais is a small luxury hotel set directly on the estate, once the royal kennels, now done in crisp, minimal style with photographic murals of the castle's stonework. Several rooms look straight at the real thing, as does the restaurant terrace.
