A mid-century motor lodge that never forgot what it was, River Lodge sits visible from the 101 in Paso Robles wine country, its retro façade and postcard pool intact. Rooms were quietly overhauled with bespoke furnishings and private porches, some with hammocks or firepits. Complimentary Linus bikes and a poolside cocktail bar make it easy to stay longer than planned, which is the whole point of wine country anyway.
