1. Rosewood San Miguel de Allende

    A Forbes Five Star boutique hotel that looks like it's been sitting on this hillside since the colonial era, even though it hasn't. The thick walls, terracotta courtyards, and views over San Miguel do most of the heavy lifting. Wealthy Mexico City weekenders are the regulars, which tells you the vibe: unhurried, polished, genuinely beautiful. The spa and pool make it easy to forget the city exists, which is saying something given how good the city is.
