1. Hotel Matilda

    A boutique hotel in San Miguel de Allende that earns its keep without trying too hard. The 32 rooms wrap around serious art, a spa with a hammam, and a restaurant that people actually come back for. The design is clean and white while the town outside is all cobblestones and pink colonial church towers, which is a genuinely good contrast. Locals and guests share the space equally, which is usually a good sign.
