    Tables built from 300-year-old pine floorboards set the tone at this Art Nouveau hotel beside Porvoo Old Town's gate. Studio Joanna Laajisto's redesign layers modern Nordic interiors over a building steeped in Finnish literary lore, with restored tile fireplaces, hand-painted wall panels, and bathroom towel racks made from salvaged farm equipment. The attic sauna is wood-warmed and unhurried. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key.
