Ryoriya Maekawa
Japanese
The all-wood interior and vaulted ceiling read like a houseboat that wandered inland and decided to stay. This Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant in Shimogyo-ku runs on the chef's conviction that dinner should be fun, so the menu roams freely across Japanese, Chinese, and Western traditions without much apology. Light jazz plays overhead, the service is warm and easy, and tables fill every evening with people who seem to already know the drill.
