The guest bathroom has no walls, which tells you exactly what kind of hotel this is. Philippe Starck and Ian Schrager turned a former Sixties fabric company office block into a boutique hotel where sleigh beds sit beneath ceiling-mounted oil paintings and rugs are patterned after Voltaire's letters. Downstairs, a Dalí-inspired red-lipped sofa anchors the lobby and a glowing onyx bar does the rest of the talking.
