Fourteen rooms and four suites in a neoclassical castle set on 400 acres of Mecklenburg lakeland, which is either romantic or absurdly grand depending on your mood, and possibly both. Each room is its own period piece, with oiled floorboards, gilt frames, and antique candlesticks doing the heavy lifting. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key. Pack accordingly: this is old-world Europe doing old-world Europe, and it isn't pretending otherwise.
