    A luxury hotel in a converted convent that apparently inspired Gabriel Garcia Márquez, which is either the best marketing angle ever or genuinely true, possibly both. The 16th-century bones are real, the courtyard stops you in your tracks, and the suites are proper works of art. The bar and restaurant draw actual Cartagenans, not just guests shuffling down in robes, so you never feel marooned inside a hotel bubble.
