Two landmark buildings near Place de la Concorde house this polished Sofitel, one of them a former 18th-century private mansion. The lobby trades the usual dark Parisian staircase drama for skylights running nearly the full ceiling length, and the rooms were done by designer Didier Gomez. Cartier and the Tuileries are both a short walk, yet the hotel manages a certain hush that feels deliberately separate from the bustle outside.
