The dining room at Hotel Palace Portorož is named for Sophia Loren, which tells you roughly what register to expect: a gently formal, evening-only Mediterranean restaurant where the Adriatic does most of the talking. The menu leans on fish and seafood, pulling flavors from Istria, Italy, and France in roughly equal measure, with truffle dishes and well-chosen meat for anyone who wandered in from the wrong coast.
