Bill Bensley designed this hotel as a kind of curated argument for the ancient East, and the rooms follow through: Batik-fabric headboards, hand-painted doors, antiques and artifacts tracing Indonesian trade routes. Three restaurants cover Japanese, Spanish, and rooftop cocktails with city views, plus a Whisky Bar and Library Lounge for quieter evenings. The National Monument is nearby, which either matters to you or it doesn't.
