1. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva

    This grand lakeside Ritz-Carlton has been around forever, and the renovation only made it more confident about that fact. It's old-money Geneva done in crisp black-and-white tile, crystal chandeliers, and floor-to-ceiling views over Lake Geneva. The crowd runs to quietly expensive luggage and good posture. There's a Nordic fusion restaurant and a Swiss chocolatier on site, because of course there is.
