  1. Topsoil Restaurant

    Contemporary New American

The name refers to the 16-acre farm supplying much of what lands on your plate, which is either a charming detail or a lot of pressure for some soil. This is a three-course New American restaurant just north of Greenville, with hardwood floors, wood-beam ceilings, and the relaxed, unhurried feeling of somewhere that doesn't need to hustle. The menu turns with the seasons, and the pastry side earned a James Beard semifinalist nod in 2024.

    Two honors, in evidence:

    The record strongest first

One number, weighted & current 75

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. It runs on the scored places nearby: more good stuff within reach, higher score. If it looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
