The Top 21 Restaurants in Richmond

The best restaurants in Richmond, by the professional record: World Culinary Awards, Canada's 100 Best, and Eater have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Baan Lao comes out on top.

Bamboo Grove Restaurant and Max Noodle House hold the next two places. Chinese Restaurant Awards shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with Vancouver Magazine next.

  1. Rank 1. Baan Lao

    Royal Thai

A 20-seat fine dining room in Steveston Village, which is otherwise known for fish and chips and frozen yogurt, turns out to be an oddly perfect home for royal Thai cuisine. White-gloved servers bring each course of an 18-dish tasting menu to white-clothed tables overlooking the Fraser River. The chef trained privately with Bangkok cooks before opening this, having no restaurant background at all. Canada's 100 Best ranks it among the country's top 25.

    Hong Kong-style Noodles

    Traditional Cantonese

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. It runs on the scored places nearby: more good stuff within reach, higher score. If it looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
