  1. Rank 1. PLONK

    Mexican Wine Bar

A counter built around a living tree anchors the outdoor terrace at this wine bar on a shaded Condesa street, and once you've found that seat, leaving feels like a bad idea. The kitchen blends Mexican and Japanese instincts in ways that make complete sense on the plate, and the natural wine list is serious without being solemn. The Michelin Guide has given it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks.

  2. Rank 2. Hugo

    Contemporary Wine Bar

Hugo is a natural wine bar in Roma Norte that feels like a Lower East Side transplant with better weather, run by a couple of former New Yorkers. The list leans toward bottles from Valle de Guadalupe, and the small plates stay simple, though there's a roasted chicken that tends to follow people home. Reserve ahead, or arrive at the hour your grandparents eat dinner.

  3. Rank 2. Loup Bar

    Natural Wine Bar

  4. Rank 4. El Minutito

    Italian-Inspired Wine Bar

There is no seating at El Minutito, by design, and that's the whole point. This tiny Italian-inspired coffee shop and wine bar near Plaza Washington runs on the European idea that a coffee is a thing you drink standing at the bar, not a reason to open a laptop. Mornings bring espresso and croissants; evenings shift to vermouth, aperitivos, and natural wine. The sidewalk bench seats maybe two people, so arrive ready to mingle.

  5. Rank 4. Travieso

    Natural Wine Bar

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
