The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Za'abeel 2 & around

  1. An old-school institution in DIFC where regulars rattle off their order without glancing at the menu, which tells you most of what you need to know. LPM is a French-Mediterranean restaurant and bar with white walls, bright art, and a Mediterranean breeziness that somehow survives the Dubai setting. The bar sits at No. 60 on The World's 50 Best Bars list, and the cocktail program draws on Jean Cocteau's life, which is a more interesting premise than it sounds.

  2. Rank 2. Moonrise

    Creative Middle Eastern

For the final course, the electric lights go off and the room is lit by moonlight, which tells you something about how seriously Solemann Haddad takes the whole thing. This 15-seat rooftop counter serves a 12-course tasting menu twice nightly, with each dish plated right in front of you. The kitchen threads Middle Eastern ingredients through Japanese technique in ways that feel personal rather than studied. It holds a Michelin star and a spot on MENA's 50 Best.

  3. Rank 3. La Dame de Pic

    Modern French

Anne-Sophie Pic's fine dining room sits in the cantilevered section of the One Za'abeel tower, 25 floors up, with a white marble bar at the front and an open kitchen behind. The Modern French cooking leans into delicate spicing and unexpected combinations, the kind of restraint that takes more effort than it looks. A Michelin star and a Forbes Four Star for anyone keeping score.

  4. Rank 4. Zuma

    Contemporary Japanese

Three separate kitchens, a sweeping staircase, and brass-and-aged-steel walls that lean into the drama: Zuma is a contemporary Japanese restaurant that treats restraint as someone else's problem. The robata grill and sushi counter share space with a main kitchen, and the grilled meats and seafood are where the room's energy lands. It holds a spot on MENA's 50 Best Restaurants, and the terrace handles post-dinner drinks when Dubai's evening air cooperates.

  5. Rank 5. Gaia

    Mediterranean

The ice counter piled with market-style seafood is the centrepiece of this Mediterranean restaurant in DIFC, where you pick your fish and decide how you want it cooked. The room goes full Greek taverna, all white tones and monochrome walls, with terrace seats that make Dubai feel briefly like the Aegean. Chef Izu Ani's place on MENA's 50 Best Restaurants list hasn't quieted the room down any, and the crowd on a Tuesday looks much like the crowd on a Saturday.

  6. A Damien Hirst octopus greets you on the ground floor before a glass lift delivers you to a dimly lit, seabed-themed dining room and bar where every surface seems to be doing something. The Japanese and pan-Asian sharing plates hold their own against the décor, which is saying something. The balcony terrace has sweeping DIFC skyline views, and the bathroom has its own fan base on Instagram, independently.

  7. Rank 7. Clap

    Contemporary Japanese

  8. Rank 7. Ninive

    Middle Eastern

Ninive bills itself as a contemporary urban majlis, the traditional gathering space of Bedouin community life, and the room commits to the idea: low tables, deep sofas, lanterns, and enough lush planting to make you forget you're inside a tower hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road. It's a Middle Eastern restaurant that leans into atmosphere as hard as it does the food, which makes it a reliable pick for date nights or a long, unhurried dinner with a group.

  9. Rank 9. Amazónico Dubai

    Latin American

Three floors of tropical greenery in the middle of DIFC, where the Amazon rainforest aesthetic gets taken very seriously and the bar keeps pace with the dining room. The Latin American menu wanders from sushi to grilled meats, which sounds chaotic but tracks with the Amazon basin's many communities. First-floor tables face the open kitchen; the panoramic terrace is the move for a cocktail before or after.

  10. Rank 9. Cipriani

    Italian

The white jackets on the waiters are the tell: this is a Cipriani, which means the whole operation traces back to Harry's Bar in Venice and carries itself accordingly. It's a full-service Italian restaurant in the DIFC, serving pasta, risotto, carpaccio, and veal Milanese to a crowd that likes its la dolce vita with a side of expense account. The Bellini, naturally, is on the list.

  12. Rank 9. Shanghai Me

    Cantonese Sushi

The name promises Shanghai, but the menu wanders the whole continent, from Cantonese dumplings to a dedicated sushi and sashimi section. This is a pan-Asian restaurant done with Art Deco bones and a prohibition-era sense of theater, moody enough that the rosy lighting flatters everyone at the table. The banana tree terrace and zodiac cocktails keep things flirtatious. A place where the second date is equally plausible as the tenth anniversary.

  14. A sun-bleached palette of oatmeal and natural stone sets the tone at this Greek restaurant in DIFC, where the chef draws on childhood summers along the Greek coast. The food follows that same unhurried logic, mezze spreads of hot, cold, and raw dishes meant for a table of friends with nowhere to be. It reads less like Dubai doing Greece and more like Greece forgetting to leave.

  15. The glowing geometric room at this Indian fine dining restaurant in DIFC sets the tone before a single plate arrives. The kitchen works from a deep respect for India's culinary traditions and then does something playful and a little theatrical with them, including tableside preparation. Tamarind chutney ice cream and tom yum rasam in the same meal are either provocative or delightful, which probably depends on your mood.

  16. Rank 15. Chic Nonna

    Italian

  17. Rank 15. Hutong

    Sichuan

A wishing tree wrapped in red ribbons anchors the dining room at this Silk Road-themed Chinese restaurant in DIFC, where the menu travels from Northern China through Xinjiang and into fiery Sichuan territory, because the chef happens to be from there. Lanterns string the terrace, lunch skews corporate, and dinner loosens up considerably. The flaming whole Peking duck is the move for anyone marking an occasion.

  20. Rank 15. Mina Brasserie

    Mediterranean

  21. Rank 15. StreetXO

    Contemporary Spanish

Graffiti covers the walls, neon lights the bar, and the staff arrive in punk jackets with a friendliness that defuses all the attitude. Dabiz Muñoz, the Madrid chef behind DiverXO, dreamed up this loud, open-plan street food restaurant where the counter seats overlooking the kitchen are the ones to grab. The menu pulls from Europe, Asia, and South America in equal measure, and the molten white chocolate lava cake is not an afterthought.

  22. Rank 15. The Guild

    Steakhouse

A curtain in a DIFC tower opens onto something closer to a New York brasserie than anything the neighborhood usually attempts. Inside, the space splits into two restaurants, Rockpool and The Salon, one built around an actual indoor pool, the other a grand open-kitchen dining room. Both run the same menu of seafood, steaks, and pasta, plus a traditional Sunday lunch for those who want the full commitment.

  23. Rank 24. 1920

    Cocktail Bar

  24. Rank 24. Galaxy Bar

    Greek Cocktail Bar

  25. Twenty-four floors up inside One Za'abeel, this specialty coffee shop trades Dubai's street-level bustle for a calm room with a skyline framing every table. The pour-over program gets the most attention, and the cold brew is serious enough to slow you down. It draws a mix of remote workers and people who simply wanted an excuse to be this high up with a good cup.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
